    Guild Hall first opened to the public in the summer of as a gift of philanthropist Mrs. Lorenzo Woodhouse. This beloved institution provided East Hampton with an art gallery, a theater and meeting place — the cultural center in the center of culture.     The Guildhall was built in the late s by architect Thomas Baldwin and is crafted from the beautiful, caramel-coloured Bath stone which adorns so many historic buildings in the city. The Banqueting Room is the largest and most impressive room in the building and boasts original Royal oil paintings on the wall and many original Georgian features. Boston Guildhall Museum and Tourist Information Centre continues to be closed until further notice. In response to the governments recent guidance and the lifting of restrictions around heritage and visitor attractions, we are in the process of working towards recovery and a managed environment as we prepare and work towards being in a position.
